You’re invited to a meeting on September 28, 2022 (11 am – 12:30 pm EDT) to discuss a draft database of research priorities focused on the environmental effects of offshore wind development in the U.S. Atlantic. This database of research needs and data gaps was compiled from existing sources and synthesizes data gaps and research needs identified across prioritization efforts, such that potential researchers and funders can easily access, sort, and further prioritize research needs. The database is intended to (1) inform immediate decisions (e.g., in the next 6-9 months) about the focus of regional funding for research and monitoring, and (2) be used as a resource in the development of detailed science and monitoring plans by a range of entities.
The database was developed by the regional synthesis workgroup of the Offshore Wind Environmental Technical Working Group (E-TWG) with technical support from the Biodiversity Research Institute and the U.S. Offshore Wind Synthesis of Environmental Effects Research (SEER) team at NREL and PNNL. The regional synthesis workgroup is hosting an open Zoom meeting on September 28th to present the database development process and a beta version of the database for stakeholder input, with a public feedback period to follow. The meeting will be professionally facilitated by the Consensus Building Institute with additional support from the Cadmus Group.
