SUMMARY:RWSC Acoustic Telemetry Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This is a joint meeting for the RWSC Sea Turtle and Protected Fish Subcommittees. Both the Sea Turtle and Protected Fish Species Subcommittees have identified a need for coordination around acoustic telemetry deployments\, data management\, and research. Both Subcommittees have decided to meet jointly in February 2024 to kick off this work with partners including the Responsible Offshore Science Alliance\, Atlantic Cooperative Telemetry Network\, and others. The specific goals of this initial session are to hear perspectives from partners about challenges and opportunities for regional collaboration with respect to acoustic telemetry and to identify discrete actions for RWSC\, ROSA\, and partners to facilitate collaboration\, including: \n\n\n\n\nSupporting a shared/internal map of all receiver deployments with essential metadata (PI contact info\, deployment duration\, co-deployed sensors\, etc.)\n\n\n\nDeveloping tools and best practices for acoustic telemetry data management (or adapt existing tools specifically for offshore wind research applications)\n\n\n\nDeveloping best practices for regional scale acoustic telemetry data products that address key offshore wind research questions and meet the needs of decision makers
